Monthly Events: July Lookback

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to be sharing with you all what I've been up to throughout July!

It's kind of like a monthly favourites but monthly events!

The first exciting thing that happened in July was going out for dinner then watching the fireworks with my family.

This was a nice thing to do as we hadn't been out as just my parents, my brother jack and myself for a while.

We began at a restaurant in which I've forgotten it's name, where I got seafood pasta and a glass of Pinot Grigio wine (my favourite!) However I have to say, I wasn't expecting the prawns to be as large as they turned out to be! Nevertheless it was incredibly yummy and I also got a side order of sauté potatoes which were delicious!

The next day and the next exciting thing that happened in July, my parents and I went to see The Sound Of Music at the Marlowe Theatre!

We'd only booked the tickets the day before so we were incredibly lucky to be able to find seats!

We had booked a table at The Green Room before the show which is a restaurant inside the theatre and the food was lovely.

I ordered the pork with vegetables for main, the Panna Cotta for dessert and a glass of prossecco!

The show itself was absolutely amazing and professionally done!

I watched the film that afternoon before the show and realised that some parts were taken out merely because the film is 3 hours long!

Nevertheless, the show sustained it's professional standards and the singing was amazing!

The last event which happened in July was my boyfriend Chris's parent's anniversary!
To celebrate, the four of us went for dinner at a pub near my University in Roehampton where the food is always incredible!
I didn't snap a picture of my main course as I was halfway through before I realised I forgot to take a picture!
I had sausages with mash potato in onion gravy and it was amazinnnnnggggg! My mouth is watering as I imagine it!
Then for desert Chris and I shared this strawberry cheesecake which was once again amazing!
It was such a lovely evening which I won't forget!

I really enjoy writing posts like this as it helps me to remove any negative thoughts on my mind by realising how lucky I am to be able to do nice things, especially with family.

Preparation for a Job Interview

Hello everyone!

I am pleased to announce that after a few job applications I bagged myself an interview and got the job!

I feel like a brand new person, however this isn't a bad thing I'm just so surprised and amazed at myself! *insert laughing face*

Today I would like to share with you some steps which made me feel 100% prepared for this interview!

1. Research The Company's Background

The most important thing to make sure you know before entering the interview with confidence is to make sure you know the background. For my interview I made sure I knew where and when the store first opened, what kind of environment the work space is (fashion, beauty, homeware etc) and how they first began.

2. Research some interview questions

The next step which could be of great help is to research what interview questions are normally asked. Since doing this, I found 20 questions which were shared from others who had been interviewed for the same job. Yes you may find hardly any, but it is definitely worth a try.

3. Write all the questions down and answer them yourself

You will find that in The Student Room, for example, some people say if they passed the interview and what questions they got asked. They can also include their answers for the questions aswell which is super helpful if they've got the job. However, before doing this, write down your own answer and see if it has matched what they have said.

4. Practice practice practice

Once you've got all your questions written down and your answers, ask someone, maybe a member of your family or a friend to read out the questions. I asked my boyfriend Chris to read my questions out to me twice a day since I was invited for an interview and I can honestly say, I felt more prepared each day.

This way they'll tell you if you've said what you wrote down or something completely different. You can also ask them to mix up the questions a bit so you don't get used to them being asked in a particular order which is a great way to practice as during the interview you will be put on the spot. You may know what answer to say for all the questions but you won't know what order they'll be put in/how the interview is going to ask them.

5. Plan your outfit

Top Tip: Don't leave this until the night before!!!!!!!!!

The best advice for an interview outfit I can give you is to dress smart. It doesn't matter what job you have applied for whether it's for a business manager or for McDonald's, they will love it if you arrive smartly dressed as it will prove how serious you are for the position you're applying for.

The moment you walk through the door, the way you are dressed provides them with a first impression of the kind of person you are. Think of an interview as sort of like a first date, or meeting someone for the first time. What do you want them to think of you?? Scruffy and unprepared? Or smart, prepared and serious about this job?

If you arrive for an interview to work for McDonald's in say, a top and an old pair of jeans, you could give the impression that everything was left to the last minute, you are unprepared and they may not want to know much about you.

6. Prepare everything you will need to bring

Lists are my bestest friend. The night before my interview I wrote down a list of everything I would need to bring along to the interview aswell as preparing it. You will need your National Insurance number and Passport for them to photocopy. However, if you wanted to make an outstanding impression on the person interviewing you, photocopy them yourself. Then bring along both the original and photocopied version then when they ask for these details so that they can photocopy them you can say 'oh I've already done this myself to save you the trouble!' You will sound super prepared and give the impression that you are 100% serious about wanting this job.

7. Lay everything out the night before

Now you've done everything needed to prepare for your big moment, lay it all out on your desk the night before. Lay your list of questions and whatever makeup you're going to put on (I wore a natural simple look) on your desk ready. Hang your outfit on the door of your wardrobe ready and set your alarm that gives you about an hour and a half/2 hours to get ready (it's better to get ready slowly rather than quickly so you don't stress yourself out!)

8. Relax

So, you've researched the company's background, looked at and written down some questions alongside your own answers, practiced with a friend/family member everyday once/twice a day and you've planned a smart outfit. What's left? RELAX!

Now you've prepared everything and your outfit is hung up on your wardrobe ready for the morning, the next thing I advise you to do is have your version of a chilled, relaxing evening. Whether this is a movie marathon, running a bath surrounded by scented candles, or having a takeaway pizza with your other half, whatever chills you out the most - do that! My version is soaking in the hot tub with a film on and looking up at the stars :)

Gabriella's Primark Stationery!❤️

Hello everyone!

Today I have decided to write up a haul/review of Gabriella's (or most of you may know her as Velvetgh0st on Youtube) new stationery collection that has recently made an appearance in most of the Primark stores.

I was super excited to get my hands on some of this collection especially as last time she brought out a homeware collection I was unable to buy any of the range as it sold out too quickly :(

However the item I was most desperate to find was this purple pencil case retailing at £4.00 which has the letters 'XOXO' .. obviously inspired by the Netflix series Gossip Girl!

Instead of using this as a pencil case it has now become my makeup brushes bag as they all fit in this perfectly. It has therefore become my new favourite thing.

The second item I was also so excited to add to my collection of coolness was this fluffy pen costing £1.50 that just makes me want to scream 'it's so fluffy!!' I can imagine that quote from Despicable Me was the inspiration for this amazing invention!

I will now carry this with me to all University lectures knowing I will be the coolest kid in the room.

Last but not least is this notebook retailing only at an affordable £2.50!

Recently I have been thinking about purchasing a notebook to write down all my blogging ideas to hopefully build up a schedule for possible weekly posts to make this more of an ongoing thing instead of posting once in a while. This notebook will therefore be used for this and anything else I need to jot down.

I find the colour/design of this collection super adorable as snippets of her personality are evident in some of them! This obviously not meaning she looks like a fluffy pen sometimes but the 'XOXO' on the pencil case reminds me of Gossip Girl and the fluffy pen makes me want to scream IT'S SO FLUFFY! By noticing the inspiration for these items, this makes the stationery fun and quirky!

These items are ridiculously affordable but at great quality, especially for a student like myself!

I am so pleased to have bought some of this collection before it sells out like last time!

❤️ Subtle Summery Look ❤️

Summery Makeup Look

Hello everyone!

Today I want to share with you a subtle summery makeup look that's simple, wearable and bearable in the recent heatwave England has been having for the last few days!

Face

For the face I use very little products as during the hot weather nothing is better than keeping as much of your face makeup free as you can.

Because of this I just apply the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in the shade Ivory to areas such as; under the eyes, Ontop of the nose, centre of the chin and in between the brows.

* no foundation*

I then just brush the four pink shades as shown above from the Revolution Blush palette 'Golden Sugar' along my cheeks which adds a nice subtle highlight.

To give my cheeks a subtle pinky glow I swipe a few strokes of colour from the Rose Gold Sleek blusher.

Eyes

Before I add any colour to the eyes I prime them with my urban decay primer potion.

Eye shadow

1. I begin with the shade 'Booty Call' all over the lid and brow bone from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette as a shimmery base.

2. I then apply 'Moonlight' from the Tanya Burr Galaxy Eye palette all over the lid.

3. Moving onto the Urban Decay 'Smoked' palette I apply the shade 'Rockstar' into the crease keeping this very subtle.

4. Seeing as I can't go anywhere without a cat flick I glide the Rimmel London Exaggerate Liquid Eye Liner along my upper lid, keeping it close to the waterline as possible and drawing a long flick at the end. I didn't aim to make the line too thick as I was trying to keep everything subtle.

5. I also draw a line on my bottom waterline with the Urban Decay glide on eye pencil in the colour 'Stag'. However, I did not draw this all the way into the inner corner as I like to keep a slight gap so my eyes don't appear too closed up.

Mascara

I use two mascaras

1. The first one I use to separate the lashes is my Maybelline Lash Sensational on the top and bottom layer of lashes.

2. I then volumize and add length to the lashes with the L'Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume mascara 'Black Angel'.

Brows

1. For the brows I firstly swipe my beloved shade 'mushroom' from the Urban Decay 'Smoked' palette.

2. I then draw a subtle line along the bottom using the Maybelline Brow Satin pencil to sharpen them up.

3. Seeing as my brows now look a bit too dark round the edges and soft in the middle I darken them up with the shade Backdoor also from the 'Smoked' palette.

4. To finish them up and hold them in place all day I apply a few brushes of the Benefit brow gel.

Finito

Lips

Onto the big finale! You could go two ways about it here in terms of what you would wear this look for. Either subtle or bold depending on the occasion.

Here are the two products I would opt for:

On the right is the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in the shade 360 'As You Want Victoria'.

And on the left is the Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm Stain in the shade 001 'Honey Douce'.

Both of these lip products are matte free as I wouldn't personally opt for a matte lip product in the hot weather as it makes my lips feel sticky. I prefer a moisturizing product that is easy to apply and doesn't feel too heavy.

These two lip options give you a choice as to whether you're feeling daring enough to add a pop of colour to your lips or if you would prefer to keep the look subtle all round with a softer lip shade.

Due to the possibility of the weather melting my makeup off my face I hold it in place with The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Face Mist.

(It's also really cooling on the face especially when the weather is hot!)

Hello my lovelies!

It feels like a long time since I wrote my last blog post as I've been struggling to come up with something you'll all find interesting!

However recently I've made some new discoveries in both makeup, fashion and lifestyle which I have decided to share with you today!

All these items are mainly holiday favourites however it is that time of the year! Most of these items I have discovered on my two most recent holidays!

My first recent discovery and current favourite is the Revolution Blush palette in the shade 'Golden Sugar'.

Mirror - The first thing I am super happy with is the size of the mirror. Other than using the mirror whilst applying the available shades, it does come in handy when applying any other makeup products and is therefore a necessity when travelling. I do have a relatively big standing mirror which I can carry around with me, however I feel like this one is more suitable for travel and replaces my other one which I use at home.

The shades - Now for the main event-the shades! This palette includes an array of shades suitable for every area of the face. It includes a highlighter, contour, shimmer, bronzer and four different shades of blush.. all in one palette! The pigmentation is on point; sometimes I do opt for a darker contour so I mix the bottom right corner shade with a darker brown however these shades involve high pigmentation along with a subtle finish to the face.

Also part of the Revolution range is the Vivid Baked Highlighter
'Peach Lights'!

Size - The first handy thing about this is it can fit nicely in your handbag in case you're in need of an emergency slay! It's size is also suitable to carry in my handbag on a shopping day instead of bringing a palette round with me!

Pigmentation - Although I have a highlighter in my palette, this has a slight rose pink undertone which can bring both a healthy & illuminating glow to your cheekbones!

The next current favourite is the Body Shop Piñita Colada body butter. I decided this was a new favourite of mine whilst on holiday with my boyfriend. Although it is quite bulky I don't think I could have lasted long on a smaller size as I have used up so much already! I bought it as part of a buy one get one free deal so I also bought the Piñita Colada exfoliator!

Scent As you can see quite alot has been used already.. (oops!) However a little can go a long way I used it as an after sun lotion all of my body and it smells delicious! It has definitely been added to my favourite holiday scents!

Consistency - It has such a smooth but relatively thick texture. However it does take a little while for it to sink in so I did find myself standing like a tree for a few minutes! This could have been due to the temperature though as when I went out to Zante with my girl mates the room was boiling at times so to be applying a thick moisturizer probably wasn't the best idea!

My next current favourite is the Zoella Candy Clutch Beauty Bag!

The bag itself - As you can see from the images above, the bag itself can fold over and shuts magnetically or it can be straightened out if you require more room.

The magnetic attachment makes it multi-purposeful as you are able to turn it into whatever you require it for. If it be for makeup, the bag can be folded over to fit in a largeish handbag. Or for a holiday where predicatively more toiletries are needed, you can unfold it for more room.

Travel friendly - This came in super handy on my recent holiday to Zante as I carried all of my toiletries in here!

At home I still use it to place any toiletries in when travelling from my place to Chris's so I find it very useful as I am almost always travelling between the two.

Using this means there will be less mess if you were to place your toiletries in with all your other stuff as there would be a higher risk of leakage and therefore ruining other belongings!

Another holiday discovered favourite is these sunglasses from Topshop!

Now there's not much to say about these other than I really like the frame. They're big-ish but don't cover the whole face. My favourite part is the metallic points on the outside and due to their dark colour they go with almost everything and lately they've been finishing off my outfits!

Another recent favourite from both holiday and everyday wear is the Bourjois City Radiance Foundation 'Beige Clair'.

This has come in super handy especially on holiday where I don't necessarily feel like overloading my face with makeup in the evenings.

Consistency - it has quite a thick texture but once spread over the face it doesn't feel like I have just loaded a thick layer of product over my skin.

Another beauty favourite is the Maybelline Brow Satin Medium Brown pencil.

The product itself - This has two ends, one is a pencil and the other is a sponge coated with brown product for shading.

Although I will never stop using my holy grail shade 'Mushroom' from the Urban Decay 'Smoked' palette to fill in my brows, both this pencil and the shade work well together. After filling in my brows with 'Mushroom', I use this to outline the bottom part which recently has made my brows more fleeky!

As one does, I've left the best to the last!

My favourite of my favourites is my Canon camera which I got for Christmas!

I have gotten so much use out of this since Christmas and taken it everywhere with me for any special days out/occasions or even just in case an unplanned memory is made, my first instinct is to capture the moment to make it last even longer!

Ever since Chris and I became an item we have created so many memories and my camera is filling up far too quickly which makes me super happy! I therefore decided to bring back the old ways of printing out the photos and displaying them in an album which I place on a shelf and can flick through at any point!

The other day we began this process and went out to buy a photo album and fill it with all the photos from our trip to Brighton for Chris's birthday!

Here are a few of my absolute favourite pages! (I would post all of them but that would make this post super long!)

I definitely plan on doing this for all the other photos we've taken from our days out and having a shelf specifically for albums!
